Jeff DeWeese, a dedicated Production Well-Being Specialist at Iowa Select Farms, celebrates 15 years of exceptional service. Reflecting on his journey, Jeff describes his time at the company as “nothing short of rewarding.”
Originally from central Missouri, Jeff’s passion for agriculture began on his grandparents’ farm, where he cared for pigs and witnessed the evolution of farming practices. “I can recall seeing sows in wooden crates and baby pigs running around in pens full of straw,” Jeff reminisces. His early experiences on a diversified farm with row crops, cattle, and a few sows sparked a lifelong love for the agriculture industry.
Jeff’s journey with Iowa Select Farms began unexpectedly. “My mom called one day about a job opening for a health assurance specialist with Iowa Select Farms,” he recalls. Despite having just bought a house in Missouri, Jeff and his wife made the significant decision to move to Iowa, a decision he describes as having “paid dividends.”
As a Production Well-Being Specialist, Jeff plays a crucial role in leading training efforts across the company’s numerous farms. He works closely with farm managers, supervisors, and teams of caretakers, ensuring that they are well-equipped to maintain high standards of biosecurity and animal well-being. “I’ve been here 15 years and still haven’t assessed every farm,” Jeff laughs, highlighting the diversity and scope of his work. “I love the variety of work, but nothing compares to training our caretakers and helping them succeed.”
Outside of work, Jeff and his wife, Andrea, have built a fulfilling life on an acreage near Iowa Falls. They are proud parents to three children—Emmalyn, Amelia, and Wyatt. Jeff treasures family time, often attending his children’s sporting events and enjoying camping trips.
