We are eager to bring back a transformed 2024 ISU McKean Swine Disease Conference at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center. The conference will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2024 as a one day meeting prior to Iowa Swine Day, which will be held on Thursday July 25, 2024. Although the events are separate, this provides the opportunity to feature two extraordinary conferences here in Ames.

This year’s conference will have four plenary talks in the morning covering topics such as the PRRS resistant pig, the state of the markets and how the U.S. swine industry competes globally, as well as a panel on Prop 12 compliant systems and the keys to doing it successfully. There are two concurrent tracks in the afternoon focused on key learnings in wean to market biosecurity, outbreak investigations, new diagnostic techniques, new vaccine technologies, advances in veterinary telemedicine, and water line biology. There are also several practitioner-led cases relating to PRRS recombination events, killed vaccines for various diseases (PRRS and Rota), E.coli, influenza surveillance techniques, in addition to research completed with H5N1 influenza strains.

This year we are bringing back the Pig Power Networking Event for interested swine students and swine practitioners. This will be held on Tuesday July 23rd at 10:30am at the new ISU VDL. Also on Tuesday, July 23rd, there will again be a PRRS Management Pre-Conference Workshop held from 12:30-5:30pm, with a social to follow, at the ISU CVM sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health. Conference attendees are welcome to attend the ISU Swine Networking Social hosted by Iowa Swine Day on July 24th at 5:30pm at the Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center in Ames, IA.
