The USDA’s October 2024 Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Outlook projects U.S. pork production to rise by 2.4%, reaching nearly 28 billion pounds. Despite a continued contraction in the breeding herd, with a 2% decline in September 2024, higher farrowing rates and improved litter rates will drive growth. Exports are forecast to increase by 4.8%, mainly supported by strong demand from Mexico and other Western Hemisphere countries. For 2025, production is expected to grow by another 2%, alongside steady export demand.
