Aaron Perry: 25 Years of Leadership, Mentorship, and Service at Iowa Select Farms

For Aaron Perry, managing a 7,500-head sow farm isn’t just about raising pigs—it’s about developing people and building a strong team.

“It’s more than just hog production; watching people succeed is the best part of my job,” said Perry, the Manager of Primrose Sow 37 in northeast Iowa. “That’s really what it’s all about.”

After 25 years with Iowa Select Farms, Aaron continues to make an impact, not just in swine production but also in mentorship, community service, and leadership development.

A Career Rooted in Passion and Growth

Aaron started his career in 1999, working in the breeding department at Thorsen Sow 24. Over the years, he gained experience, took on leadership roles, and eventually became farm manager, overseeing 15 employees and ensuring the success of a high-production sow unit.

“Watching employees advance and move up to other positions is pretty rewarding,” Perry shared.

Aaron’s ability to recognize and nurture talent has been one of his strongest attributes. He believes in creating an environment where employees feel supported, challenged, and empowered. His team respects his leadership not just because of his experience but because of his commitment to their success.

A Leader Who Puts People First

Aaron embodies the values of Iowa Select Farms—caring for animals, people, the environment, and the community. His contagious enthusiasm motivates his team, while his sense of humor and positive energy create a work atmosphere where employees enjoy what they do.

“It takes everyone on this team working together to achieve our goals, and we have fun doing it,” Perry said.

His supervisor, Mark Lee, describes him as more than just a farm manager—he’s a leader, mentor, and role model.

“He’s the biggest philanthropist in the community, always working to help his neighbors,” said Lee.

Beyond the Barn: A True Community Champion

Aaron’s dedication extends beyond the farm. A native of Riceville, Iowa, he’s actively involved in his community:

15-year volunteer firefighter with the Riceville Fire Department
Ambulance driver for the Riceville Ambulance Service
Dedicated to helping others, whether on the farm or in the community

His commitment to giving back is an extension of the same leadership qualities he demonstrates in the barn. He values hard work, teamwork, and service—both to his employees and his neighbors.

A Passion for Family and Football

When he’s not managing the farm or responding to emergency calls, Aaron enjoys spending time with his family and cheering on his favorite teams—the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Bears.

After 25 years, his impact is clear: he’s built a career centered around leadership, mentorship, and service.

Thank You, Aaron!
