Maximus Meats, a new 29,000-square-foot meat processing facility and retail space, is set to open in Summerdale, Alabama, later this year. The $11 million project will provide a much-needed local processing option for livestock farmers, including swine producers, helping to reduce transportation costs and improve accessibility for USDA-certified custom and wholesale meat processing.
The facility will feature onsite livestock processing, a full-service kitchen offering precooked orders, a general merchandise section, and office space. With plans to create over 50 jobs, Maximus Meats aims to strengthen the region’s agricultural economy while offering an alternative processing solution for pork producers facing industry consolidation and logistical challenges.
According to the company, the facility will operate as a USDA Red Meat Abattoir, ensuring high-quality processing standards for swine and other livestock. Set for completion in the summer, Maximus Meats has already drawn interest from the farming community, with updates and videos available on its social media platforms.
As demand for reliable, local processing continues to grow, Maximus Meats could play a significant role in supporting independent pork producers and strengthening regional supply chains.
