Brazilian Pork Exports Surge 15.1% in November

November Shipments Rank Third in Historical Record; Year-to-Date Growth Reaches 11.1%

The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reports that Brazilian pork exports (including both fresh and processed products) reached 121.1 thousand tons in November. This marks the third-largest monthly export volume in the sector’s history, representing a 15.1% increase compared to November 2023, which recorded 105.7 thousand tons.

Export revenues also saw significant growth, rising 29.5% to $291.7 million in November, compared to $225.2 million during the same month last year.

For the year-to-date (January through November), Brazilian pork exports have totaled 1.243 million tons, an 11.1% increase over the 1.118 million tons exported during the same period in 2023. Revenue for the year has climbed 7.3%, reaching $2.774 billion compared to $2.586 billion in 2023.

Top Export Destinations

The Philippines emerged as the leading destination for Brazilian pork exports in November, importing 28.8 thousand tons—an impressive 143.9% increase compared to the same period last year. Other key markets include:

  • China: 21.1 thousand tons (-17.2%)
  • Chile: 10.6 thousand tons (+45.7%)
  • Japan: 9.2 thousand tons (+170.7%)

  • Vietnam: 5.6 thousand tons (+66.9%)

“With just eleven months of shipments, pork exports have already surpassed the total volumes recorded for all of 2023,” noted Ricardo Santin, ABPA President. “This growth highlights the increasing diversification of our export markets and the positive impact of adopting the pre-listing system* in markets like the Philippines and Chile, which are now among the top destinations.”

Export Performance by Region

Santa Catarina remains Brazil’s top pork-exporting state, shipping 62.2 thousand tons in November—a growth of 8.7% compared to November 2023. Other notable contributors include:

  • Paraná: 16 thousand tons (+15.9%)
