Hy-Vee and Iowa Pork Producers Launch ‘Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon’ Campaign to Boost Pork Sales

Hy-Vee and the Iowa Pork Producers Association have launched the ‘Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon’ campaign, featuring Iowa State Cyclone football players and aiming to drive pork sales across 200 Hy-Vee stores in the Midwest. The campaign offers consumers a chance to win one of 10 Blackstone Griddles or free bacon for a year by purchasing pork and scanning their Hy-Vee PERKS card through October 31.

This NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) promotion features players Myles Purchase, Tyler Moore, Tommy Hamann, and Caleb Bacon, whose viral photo—seen by more than 20 million people—earned the “Best NIL Deal of 2023” award from the Sports Business Journal. The players, humorously posed with bacon and ham, brought national attention to the campaign, sparking consumer interest in pork products.

To further engage audiences, Hy-Vee is releasing a series of episodic videos every Monday through early October, featuring Cyclone athletes participating in entertaining “tryouts” to see if they fit the ‘Purchase Moore Hamann Bacon’ theme. The campaign will culminate during National Pork Month, also known as “Porktober,” aligning with Hy-Vee’s goal to promote pork consumption.

In addition to promoting pork sales, the Iowa Pork Producers Association will donate $1,000 worth of pork to a food pantry selected by each athlete featured in the videos. These donations contribute to Hy-Vee’s 100 Million Meals Challenge, an effort to fight hunger across the United States.

Hy-Vee Vice President of Meat and Seafood Jason Pride highlighted the campaign’s impact on both pork sales and efforts to alleviate food insecurity, calling it a “win-win” for everyone involved. The videos can be viewed on Iowa Pork Producers Association’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube.

This campaign not only shines a light on the pork industry but also showcases the collaborative efforts to support local communities and farmers across the Midwest.
