Japanese McDonald’s Pork Buyers Strengthen Ties with Indiana Pork Producers

eanette Merritt, Communications Director for Indiana Pork, reported that a recent visit by pork buyers from McDonald’s Japan has bolstered the relationship between the U.S. and Japan.

During their visit, the buyers had the chance to observe firsthand the operations of U.S. pork farms. Merritt emphasized the importance of this visit, noting, “It’s an opportunity to reassure a major customer that Indiana pig farmers and U.S. pork production adhere to our We Care standards, demonstrating our farmers’ commitment to raising livestock responsibly and producing a consistent product.”

The Japanese delegation visited two farms, Fair Oaks and Legacy. Merritt highlighted their enthusiasm, stating, “They were excited to walk into a barn and see all the educational information that Fair Oaks and Legacy present in their facilities. They appreciated the opportunity to see the pigs and understand the farming practices.”

Merritt further noted that Japanese consumers seek consistent quality in the pork products they purchase from McDonald’s, and the consistency of U.S. pork is a key differentiator in the market.
