Pork Producers Donate $100,000 Worth of Pork in the Capital Beltway

Pork producers from Virginia, North Carolina, and Iowa came together to make a significant donation of 54,000 pounds of pork, valued at $100,000, to the Capital Area Food Bank. This act of generosity was part of the $100K Pork Chop Challenge, a culinary event that featured a competition among local restaurants for the best pork chop dishes. The challenge not only showcased the culinary talents in the region but also highlighted the agricultural community’s commitment to supporting those in need.

The challenge was supported by the Virginia Pork Council and other regional pork councils, aiming to provide quality protein to food-insecure families. The winner of the competition, Sloppy Mama’s BBQ, was recognized for their outstanding pork dish. This donation is a testament to the strong community spirit and dedication of pork producers to making a positive impact in their local areas.
