Thailand Reports First African Swine Fever Outbreak of 2024

Thailand has reported its first African swine fever (ASF) outbreak of the year. The outbreak was confirmed in Nong Khai Province, near the Laos border. This disease, highly contagious among pigs, poses significant threats to the swine industry due to its high mortality rates and economic impact. The authorities are taking measures to contain and eradicate the virus, including quarantine, culling of affected and at-risk pigs, and enhancing biosecurity measures.
