Employees at Dold Foods in Wichita, a Hormel Foods subsidiary, have officially filed for a union election with United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 2 after management declined to voluntarily recognize the union. This filing follows a weekend barbecue and an October 29 demonstration, during which employees formally requested union recognition to secure stronger workplace rights and protections. UFCW Local 2 President Martin Rosas expressed optimism about negotiating a contract that mirrors agreements for other unionized Hormel workers, supporting improved wages, benefits, and working conditions for Dold Foods employees.
“Workers at Dold deserve a seat at the table,” Rosas stated, reinforcing the union’s commitment to backing the employees through each step of the process.
