Coleman All Natural Meats, a pioneer in the all-natural meat industry since 1875, is celebrating its 150-year anniversary in 2025. This significant milestone honors the brand’s rich family heritage and unwavering commitment to producing all-natural, humanely raised meats sourced from American farmers. Coleman’s products are distinguished by their adherence to strict standards: no antibiotics ever, no added hormones, and an all-vegetarian diet for their livestock.
To commemorate this historic occasion, Coleman has introduced updated packaging featuring a refreshed look and feel. The brand is also expanding its product lines to include new offerings in the bacon, rope sausage, and flavored ground pork categories. Throughout the year, Coleman plans to host various celebrations, including themed giveaways, new recipes, and special events at key retailers, to engage with consumers and honor its legacy.
The Coleman family’s journey began with the establishment of their first cattle ranch in Colorado in 1875. In the 1960s, subsequent generations pioneered rotational grazing techniques, reflecting their innovative approach to sustainable farming. In 1979, Mel Coleman, Sr. founded the Coleman All Natural Meats brand and collaborated with the USDA to define the first Certified Natural label, setting standards for livestock raising practices without the use of antibiotics or added hormones, and ensuring a 100% vegetarian diet. The family continued to lead in agricultural best practices and, in 1989, contributed to drafting the initial guidelines for the USDA’s Certified Organic seal, which was enacted into law in 2002. In 2011, the Coleman brand was acquired by Perdue Farms, a fourth-generation family-owned food and agriculture company founded in 1920.
Reflecting on this landmark moment, Ryan Perdue, fourth-generation Perdue family member and Senior Vice President of Perdue Specialty Meats and Emerging Brands, stated, “I am so honored to be celebrating this landmark moment with the Coleman family. The combined generations of history and dedication have led us to provide the highest standards not only in animal care but also making great-tasting, premium meats people can feel good about serving to their families and friends. Our commitment to quality will never waiver and will continue to be our legacy for many generations to come.”
In line with its commitment to community support, Coleman is a leading supporter of Pups for Patriots and has pledged to donate $1 million to benefit veterans and first responders in need of service dogs.
Mel Coleman, Jr., fifth-generation Coleman family member and spokesperson for Coleman All Natural Meats, expressed his pride in the family’s legacy, stating, “The last 150 years has been a proud legacy for me and my family, and I can’t wait to see what the next 150 bring. We will continue to honor our commitments to family farms, farmers, and humane animal care, as well as ecologically focused principles in land, air, and water management. We will also stay transparent and always look for opportunities that align with our high standards and values. That is ‘the Coleman way.'”
As Coleman All Natural Meats celebrates this significant milestone, it remains dedicated to its core values of quality, innovation, and community engagement, setting a standard for the all-natural meat industry.
