Six Students Showcase Expertise in 2025 FFA Pork Speaking Contest

Six exceptional FFA students recently took center stage at the 2025 FFA Pork Speaking Contest, demonstrating their knowledge and passion for the pork industry. Held during the Missouri Pork Expo, this annual competition highlights the next generation of agricultural leaders, giving them a platform to engage with industry topics through prepared speeches and a rigorous Q&A session.

Representing Missouri’s six FFA districts, the students advanced through local and regional rounds to earn their spot in the finals. Each participant delivered a well-researched 6-8 minute speech on a topic relevant to the pork industry, followed by a five-minute question session to test their understanding and critical thinking.

This year’s finalists included:

  • Dane Laut – Fredericktown FFA
  • Megan Schneider – California FFA
  • Jacob Myers – Paris FFA
  • Emily Harper – Nevada FFA
  • Lucas Thompson – Chillicothe FFA
  • Samantha Reed – East Prairie FFA

The competition not only recognized the students’ hard work but also rewarded them for their efforts. The first-place winner received $200, second place earned $150, third place was awarded $100, and all other finalists received $50 for their participation.

The FFA Pork Speaking Contest continues to be a vital program for developing young leaders in agriculture. By encouraging students to explore issues within the pork industry, the competition helps cultivate future advocates and professionals who will contribute to the industry’s growth and sustainability.

This event serves as a reminder of the enthusiasm and dedication young people have for agriculture and reinforces the importance of education, public speaking, and leadership development in shaping the industry’s future.
